Husband kisses wife’s head before delivery and whispers 5 words – 1 hour later he’s a single dad to quadruplets
Carlos Morales and Erica’s love story began in 2006, defying language barriers and blossoming into a deep connection. Their commitment led to marriage in 2007, and they eagerly embarked on the journey to start a family. After a heartbreaking miscarriage, fertility treatment brought new hope, revealing that Erica was pregnant with quadruplets.
As Erica faced the challenges of carrying four babies, Carlos took on the role of caretaker, managing household chores alongside supporting his wife. However, tragedy struck on January 12, 2015, when Erica was admitted to the hospital with high blood pressure. In a shocking turn of events, doctors decided to deliver the babies prematurely due to Erica’s continual contractions.
Carlos, unprepared for the life-altering events that would unfold, kissed his wife on the head and said, “Let’s get these babies out” before she entered the delivery room. The quadruplets – three girls and one boy – were born via C-section, but joy quickly turned to devastation as Erica went into hypovolemic shock, resulting in her sudden passing.
Left to raise four newborns alone, Carlos named them Carlos Jr., Paisley, Tracey, and the third girl after his late wife, “Erica.” Overcoming immense grief, Carlos learned essential parenting skills and welcomed support from Erica’s mother, Sondra Bridges.
Reflecting on his unexpected journey into single fatherhood, Carlos expressed, “I went from having the best day of my life to the next morning experiencing the worst day of my life. My four babies came into the world, and then my wife died.”
