Ray came home one night

After a long day at work, Ray returned home one night, slipped into bed next to his sleeping wife, and drifted into a deep slumber. Suddenly, he found himself awakening before the gates of heaven, greeted by St. Peter himself.

“Ray, you passed away in your sleep,” St. Peter informed him.

Ray was taken aback. “Dead? No, that can’t be! I’ve got too much life ahead of me. Please, send me back!”

With a gentle shake of his head, St. Peter responded, “I’m afraid there’s only one way for you to return, and that’s in the form of a chicken.”

Ray was crushed by this revelation, yet he pleaded with St. Peter to place him on a farm near his home. In an instant, his surroundings transformed. He was now covered in feathers, clucking, and pecking at the ground.

A confident rooster sauntered by. “So, you’re the new hen, eh? How’s your first day here?” he inquired.

“It’s not too bad,” replied Ray, the newly transformed hen, “but I’ve got this strange sensation inside, like I’m about to burst!”

The rooster chuckled. “Ah, you’re ovulating. Don’t tell me you’ve never laid an egg before?”

Ray admitted, “Never.”

“Relax and let it happen,” advised the rooster. “It’s a natural process.”

Taking the rooster’s advice to heart, Ray awaited the inevitable. After a few awkward moments, an egg emerged. Overwhelmed with a mix of emotions, Ray experienced the miracle of motherhood. His happiness knew no bounds as he produced another egg, basking in the joy of the moment.

Just as he was about to lay a third egg, a sudden thud struck the back of his head. A familiar voice rang out, “Ray, wake up! You’ve left a mess on the bed!”

Startled, Ray snapped back to reality, his dream abruptly shattered. He chuckled, realizing the unusual journey he had just experienced in his slumber.
